Prediction Markets in Missouri
Status: contested. Last verified October 2, 2026.
Prediction markets such as Kalshi and Polymarket US are regulated federally by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Missouri's Attorney General treats sports event contracts as unlicensed sports wagering. In September 2026 her office sent cease-and-desist letters to Kalshi, Polymarket, Crypto.com, Novig, Underdog and Robinhood, telling them to get a Missouri Gaming Commission license or stop offering sports contracts in Missouri. Attorney General announcement
No court has ruled on prediction markets in Missouri. Federal appeals courts are split: the Sixth Circuit ruled for Ohio and Tennessee on September 25, 2026, and the Ninth Circuit ruled for Nevada, while the Third Circuit sided with Kalshi in New Jersey. The Supreme Court may settle the question.
Prediction markets matter for matched betting because they do not limit winning traders. Check each app for current availability in Missouri before you deposit.

Sweepstakes casinos operate in Missouri under sweepstakes rules rather than a state license, so they offer fewer customer protections. Some of their sign-up offers are +EV. The Sweepstakes Casino Overview explains how they work.
